Sec 2s, your thrift badge details MUST be inside also!
Points that need to be in:
• What is your definition of being thrifty?(E.g;save more.)
• What can you do to be thrifty?
• Why is there a need for people to be thrifty?(e.g there will be enough money when there is a crisis?
• Do you think young Singaporean teenagers like us are thrifty/not thrifty? (Please give reasons to support your answer.)
• What can we do to encourage people to be thriftier?

And you notebook! (3 months recording of your spending)
P.S* For those that did not do what is required, please go and ask COH, or your friends. This is YOUR personal responsibility. COH,please check with your juniors that they have done what needs to be done listed all 3 above.

For thehealth badge, you are to research on :
• How does the cleanliness of your clothes affect your health? (washing it after a certain activity or continue wearing)
• the use& abuse of deodorants and cosmetics.
• dangers of ill-fitting& unsuitable footwear. (if you can't wear it but only have that size you die die wear.)
• How is your health affected by cleanliness, smoking, food, drink, unwise dieting, deportment ( posture), exercise and late nights.
For the photographer badge,
: develop the pictures you all took.
: put it in a piece of paper and then file it up.
: give a BRIEF description of every picture.
Artist Badge
: Make a book-cover or poster taking "Promoting guides" as the theme.
: Draw an imaginative drawing (check it online if you are not sure)

All these things MUST be in the guides file.

for the speaker badge,we rated you by criterias:
Your clarity : whether what you are saying is clear.
Your voice: whether we can hear what you are saying
Your expression: whether you fidgeted around or look elsewhere when saying.

The WAY to get the speaker badge is very important.
In girl guides, we are always presenting things that we do. Therefore, this speaker badge may help you. Some of us can speak loud (voice) but we cannot hear what you are saying (clarity). Some of you all are looking elsewhere or putting hands in your pockets,fidgeting,touching your hair etc.(expression)


The good news is that everyone passed!WOOHOO.
The bad news is those that were absent or have not presented like me ad Sharon will have to present other time for you all.=)

4 September, Friday

12 Guides will be following me to the HQ for some yeomen service. We are required to reach there at 3.oo p.m. Attire will be Half U. Please wear your Guides polo tee instead of the Unit Tee. Oo yar, you all can chose to meet the COHs and head of together or you can make your way there yourself tomorrow. That’s all!!! For those who are participating. Please make sure that you are free on that day. You are not allowed to back out. Any changes in mind, this will be the last day.
Those participating are supposed to stay back on Wednesday, 2 September for a briefing on this by Mdm Hayati. Please meet at the usual place at 2.30. Attendance is compulsory for those Guides.

Lastly, Guides. I really hope the COHs will be able to have your cooperation during Guides of meeting. We took away the punishment. This is a privilege and DON’T take it for granted. We actually believe that we can trust you that you won’t be late for the activities and will have sense of urgency but you proved us wrong. The COHs will be giving you all one last chance. We can bring the punishment back anytime we want.

When given a time limit for a tack, please complete it within the time!! For example, yesterday during reflection. Its Okays I know you all want to decorate it and make it nice. But what I see many other people are doing is chatting happily and laughing about things irrelevant to Guides. And at that point of time, you all had already past 15 minutes of the time given to you.

One more thing that I would like, when you are given like 5 minutes to assemble somewhere or water break, at the end of the 5 minutes, you are expected to be in order, in your patrols already. And not waiting for me to blow my whistle before you all assemble. It’s always that at the end of the 5 minutes, half of the company is still not there. And the water break will end up being twice of the time given. When ask to assemble somewhere. RUN not WALK!!!

Lastly, DO NOT COMPLAIN WHEN GIVEN SOMETHING TO DO!!! What we expect from you is already not much as compared to previous years. We were already very lenient and the COHs are beginning to feel that you all are climbing over our heads. We have a reason for everything behind. It’s just that you may not know. This is the beginning only. We will be expecting more from you.

BTW, this is not a lecture.
The weather is getting bad!!!! Please drink more water!!! Rest Well for those who are sick.

For your speaker badge, PLEASE go and find a poem or passage OF YOUR OWN.

- make sure you time yousrself and READ it out.
- Make sure it is not more than 2 minute and less than 1 minute. So Max: 2 Min Minimum: 1 Min
- You can start memorising the passage now and can try making it into a song, rap etc.
- You will MOST PROBABLY be presenting on 28/8 (friday)
For your health badge and photographer badge, PLEASE put it in your guides file!

As you guys know, the guides blog is handed to me for safe guard!! and me, yuxuan is not happy with this blog.so, i am going to set a few rules.(muahaha.i am the boss, actually no.i am the secretary)

1.everytime you guys seen the post on the meeting details or guides homework. please tag. the tagboard is totally dead. and those who never tag is equivalent to never check the guides blog. and i will run after you.(run run run)

2.people who cannot check the guides blog please dont give me excuses say your computer spoilt, no internet. please take the initiative to ask from your fellow guides.but please dont expect your patrol leader to sms you the details.it is your own responsibility as a guide.(it wont kill for you to open your beautiful mouth and ask!!)

i am very disappointed by the performance.both mine and you guys.

i am glad that some people took the initiative to tell me that i had some errors or i got typos.

when the guides blog was handed down to me, it became very dead. nobody come here. is it that you guys dont need to check the blog? or is it i had not been maintaining it properly?

i had been checking the responses everyday.everyday you know!!but nobody tag at all.i feel like the farmer in the story where a farmer waits for a rabbit to knock into a tree and die so that he could take it home.

the purpose of the guides blog: to inform you guys the details of every meeting and the materials you all need to bring.plus, a place where we can chit chat with each other when there is no guides.

if nobody receives the message and no bonding effects are received, we can actually do without this blog.

that means it would become like last time, we would write the details on a piece of paper and post it on the notice board.then you guys would have to specially go to a specific place to check the details.and you might actually forgot the items and dress code.

if i was to chose, i would definitely prefer a blog.

you can go to it anytime, anywhere.

it is more convenient and you guys do not need to take down the details when checking the blog instead of the notice board.

but if you guys want, we can close down this blog anytime and set up a notice board.

i let you guys chose, if you want to make your life difficult, it is up to your choice.it does not matter to me, i can write the details out and pin them on the notice board.

now, it is turn for my faults.

1.i always have typo errors, even though i got check(i dont know why, but i will improve on it)

2.i know my tone could be too strict and too fierce for you guys.

3.i always post the blog quite late, but i would try to post it as early as i can

4.there are a lot of edits every time .i would try my best to gather all the information and post them all at once.


another note: guides, please do not always rely on your patrol leaders or patrol seconds to tell you guys to check the guides blog or to wait for them to give you the details for the next meeting.please be responsible for your own things and be independent.you must take the own initiative.

starting from the next message i post, i would record down the ones who had tagged and those who had not.

i know you guys do not like being chased after and being scolded right.so please dont give me the chance to chase after you and raise my voice.i do not like the me who always scolds and nags. but here i am nagging at you guys.

HEY GUIDES!

we want to thank you guys for being so guai(obedient) today..

and we(sybil, amelia, suchi, josephine, karwai, qianyu, seokkee and me)really appreciate the certificates!!

if you guys have any suggestions on fun drills, for example having an song edited and sung while doing drills, please send the copy of the edited song to sybil and amelia.

and next time we can probably do certificates for our guide teachers, because mdm hayati was green with envy(jealous)!!joking..joking..
