Time: 11.00 to approximately 1 to 2 (depends on how fast the task is done)
items to bring: Plain A4 papers, stationaries and the research on thinking day banner and cca display.

As for the banner design competition, the draft of the banner(on a piece of A4 size paper) has to be done and submitted by 04 Jan to Mdm Ashikin for approval. So, you may consider doing tomorrow too =D

Hello Guides!!!! Hope you have enjoyed your holidays =D.. This may be a bad news for you guys.. As there is more TASKs!!! This is regarding the upcoming CCA display which will be on 7 Jan 10. All guides are supposed to complete the task in their our normal “two patrols per groups” grouping as follows:

-Hibiscus and Ixora -> Songs, Games/Cheer Presentation (an on-going event to be repeated with every sec 1 class that comes to visit) and tokens for those who signed up

-Kingfisher and Orchid -> Posters on the different ways of Outdoor Cooking AND demonstrate cooking using the black pot would be good because it’s more hygienic
* you people will have to research on the ways before the guides meeting on 30/12. You may refer to the 6 ways listed in the guides handbook but please find out more about each method

-Oriole and Sunflower -> Posters featuring Guides Activities AND Exhibition of Items made by Guides


This has to be completed by 1st of Jan and you are to send the proposal to Mdm Ashikin, Cc to Mdm Hayati also by that day. There will meeting on wed, 30/12, regarding this, for you all to plan in your groups but as you know, one day may not be enough since it has to be submitted on the next day, and I don’t think you guys will want to work on New Year, please brainstorm for some ideas first to make your life easier on that day.. The guides meeting details will be posted soon. It should commence around 11.00a.m THANKS

Another task… ANNUAL THINKING DAY BANNER COMPETITION IS BACK!!!! And of course this year our company will be participating in it too. You guys will be working in your normal groupings which are 2 patrols per group. In the banner, we are to include the images of 5 Girl Guide/Girl Scout members (including Brownies) in uniform, from the 5 Regions of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (Africa, Arab, Asia Pacific, Europe and Western Hemisphere). So please research more on it. Guides meeting will be assign for this. But you are still required to meet up and do at your own time if it is not completed. And date of submission will be 15 Jan to Mdm Hayati.

So please take note that the first two weeks of school is rather important and we will be rather busy. Please make yourself available. The dates of the Guides meeting may be irregular this period of time. But everything will resume to normal from the third week onwards. Of course, we won’t be so busy too =D..

Please remember that you have to complete things for proficiency badge this holiday.
For the Sec 1s,2s, and 3s,

• Dental Health Badge
  Task: Create a podcast (2-5 mins only) containing the following:
  
  1) Know the structure and function of teeth.
  2) "Make a model or chart of a tooth with whatever materials
  that can be used."
  3) Know the various oral hygiene aids and their correct use.
  4) Know the importance of good nutrition for good dental health.
  5) Name 6 foods which are sugar-free and how they affect dental health.
  6) Demonstrate how a younger child can be taught to practice good oral hygiene.
  
  Instructions:
  a) "You are to conduct searches through the internet for the above information to
  make a podcast"
  b) You may record your voice using "audacity" application found on the desktop.
  c) You are advised to use "windows movie maker" to put your research together for submission. Save the project and publish it as a wmv or mp3 file.
  d) For item 6), you must record yourself conducting the mock demonstration.
  
  Note: Your podcast will be submitted to the dental nurse in-charge of NAS.

As for the thrift badge, please check your e-mails by 11 December 2009 (Friday)about your thrift badge. If you have not receive it, please ask someone of your cohort to forward it to you. Also, if you change your e-mail address, please sms me.

FOR THE SEC 1S AND 2S,
in addition of the badges that you need to complete above, you also have to complete the COMPUTER badge

For the Sec 3s,
in addition of the badges that you need to complete above, you also have to complete the NATURALIST badge and FRIENDS TO ANIMALS badge.
