*Make sure you have two rubber bands*

*Make sure you have WHITE socks.if you dun have, please go and borrow.

*If you don't know how to tie, iron it FIRST.

*Make sure you have the WHOLE full-u (whistle,belt,pen knife,hat,scarf)

we will have lunch together IN school. after which, we will go and change into full-u, amelia will be checking our uniforms. At arnd 1.55pm, we will go and look for Mrs Lim.

To make things easier, PLs/PSs, please discuss among yourselves and put someone in your patrol in charge of collecting ALL files from your patrol and give it to me or Sharon.

Hey guides,
Just to let you know, CCA has stopped for EOY in case you all do not know. But there is a simple task for you all which have to be done.
All guides is to submit a service- learning Projects write-up by 22 Oct 09. We need to conduct 5 Service Learning Activities right after the exams, thus, we will choose the good projects and relatively simple ones to proceed first and work on the other
projects that require improvements. No matter what, all guides must be involved in Service-learning, sooner or later. Thus the teachers are expecting the sec 2s and 3s to come
up with good projects first.

MORE DETAILS

1. All guides must surf the following website http://www.nyc.gov.sg/sl/newsletter.htm and learn what service learning is all about under headings such as Projects,
newsletter, a b c s of Service learning, FAQs etc

2. Understand how we involve WELFARE or NON-PROFIT organizations on their causes. Understand how we serve their needs. Understand the learning that you will experience.

3. WELFARE organizations are also listed in the website.

4. NON-PROFIT organization includes mosque, churches etc...

5. If you want to provide services e.g. making teaching aids for toddlers at the mosque, church etc...think and choose those that are near to Tampines so that it would be nearer
to your homes.

6. Random grouping of NOT MORE THAN 4 GIRLS is allowed as long as the members in each group has similar interests. But members of the groups MUST BE IN SAME LEVEL ie all
sec 1s only in one group.

*****After searching the net, you are to write a simple reflection of 50 to 100 words about what service means to them. Please send your reflection to either Seok Kee, Su Chi or Yu Xuan as it has to be posted on the Guides blog.

SUGGESTIONS:

- Please surf the website early...it should only take 1 hr at the most.

- You can think about the projects later after your exams but at least you will start thinking about it.

2nd thing: GRADUATION DAY
is on 25 September, Friday.
We will be ushering parents to their seats in the hall.
It starts at around 4pm and we will be ON DUTY until everything is over.
Refreshments will be provided for us.
Attire on that day will be full-u.

Only the Sec 1s can go unless there is not enough sec 1s, Sec 1s please volunteer yourselves and tell me.If not i will have to pick. But you have to be very sure because that will be the time it is near exam.

Also, you are preferred to have the following:
1) Courage to talk to the parents.
2) Being prepared -Know how the seating arrangement is like and be prepared that parents will come to you and ask you where their seats are.
3) Having a smile!- You have to talk to the parents with a smile to show that you aren't rude!

All these details I will brief you all as the date comes closer.

As for how you will be ushering, in pairs etc. I will tell you all too. BE PREPARED to be doing solo ushering, meaning working by yourself.

This ushering can be useful to you and the school, by ushering and leading parents, you are making contributionsto the school. To some of us that are shy, you may learn to open up to strangers and help them. Having more courage and speaking confidently. Try to challenge yourself.
